How to deal with the sudden problems of laser power supply in production?

Laser operators should have the relevant technical knowledge of laser power supply system. If the large-scale laser power supply system has an emergency situation during operation, the laser operators should diagnose and repair the fault as soon as possible to ensure the normal operation of the laser system. There are many reasons for the power problems of laser power supply. Here, we will list the following five problems which are easy to appear in the operation of laser system for discussion.

1. Low heat dissipation efficiency

Laser power systems consist of many high-tech components, most of which require effective cooling to produce stable output power. The water cycle system is usually used to keep the system temperature constant. If the water, filter or power cycle is faulty, it will reduce the output power of the laser power supply. Therefore, it is very important to check and control the temperature meter on the cooling system regularly.

2. The power supply is faulty

Due to the high voltage required by the laser power supply system, especially the high power laser power supply system, if there is a mismatch between the voltage and the laser power supply system, the output power will be inconsistent, and eventually lead to catastrophic damage. If you do not have a stable power supply, you cannot generate a stable laser power supply. You can use the laser power supply power meter and monitoring tools to verify the stability of the output power of the laser power supply system to prevent power fluctuations caused by voltage instability.

3. Damaged parts

Sometimes, although the power supply and cooling systems appear to be normal, after measuring the output power with a laser power detector, the nozzle power level may be lower than it should be. This problem may be due to damage to the nozzle or internal components such as the nozzle, lens and mirror. Therefore, as far as possible, keep the laser power supply components clean and check them regularly.

4. Components are not aligned

Some laser power technologies (such as CO2 laser power) require correct lens alignment. If the component is not aligned, it will lead to a decrease in the power of the laser power supply, and long-term operation is not aligned with the laser power resonator will cause catastrophic failure. Therefore, it is necessary to check the alignment of the lens regularly.

5. The pulse is unstable

Pulse plays an important role in pulse processing. Additional peak power, cutting and welding procedures all require laser power pulse operation. Most of the time, laser operators believe that any loss of performance in cutting and welding operations is caused by a drop in average power, which is more likely to occur if the power is not as high as it should be. Therefore, a laser power source energy meter should be used to monitor individual pulse energy changes.

In the production of laser system, no matter what kind of emergency the laser operator encounters, it is the most important to diagnose and solve the problem as soon as possible. The high precision of the laser power meter can help the laser operator deal with the sudden problems from the root of the problem.
